Overview

The online self-study course highlights the current atmosphere of upper extremity stroke rehabilitation and the key ways research tells us to improve motor recovery. Statistical data, neuro-specific education, evidence-based research and applicable motor recovery treatment options will be provided. Further, we will present a variety of commercially available technologies showing useful low-tech and high-tech rehabilitation solutions for the different stages of stroke recovery. The online class is intended for medical professionals (e.g. OT/OTA, PT/PTA, Physicians, etc.) directly related to the rehabilitation of a patient or client. To participate in this CEU and receive credit, the participant must be a licensed, treating clinician. Completion of this course will reward the participant with .1 CEUs or 1 contact hour, following completion of the presentation and a ≥ 80% score on the quiz. You will have 90 days to complete this course.

Krista also is a per diem therapist at Spaulding to remain connected to her peers, colleagues and stay competent with the constant advancements of the therapy world.

Scott Thompson

Scott received his occupational therapy degree at the University of St. Augustine. He is a Certified Stroke Rehab Specialist (CSRS) and a LSVT-BIG-trained therapist.

Meredith Bowen Mayton, MOT, OTR/L

Meredith Mayton is a master of occupational therapy specializing in neurologic rehabilitation. She currently serves as the Multi-Specialty Program Manager at the new state-of-the-science Sheltering Arms Institute in Richmond, VA. Until the opening of this facility, she served as the Occupational Therapy Team Lead for inpatient and outpatient therapy services at the parent Sheltering Arms Hospital. She was the leader of the iREACH Clinical Program which focused on upper extremity neurological recovery through advanced technologies. She has also served in a Knowledge Broker role which sought to bridge the gap between current evidence and its application into clinical practice. She has 13 years of experience as an occupational therapist with the adult neurological population and now works to lead the therapy team at the Institute.
